The shear pin is a critical component that transfers torque from the motor shaft to the propeller. It is designed to break during a collision, protecting the more valuable and costly propeller from damage.

One spare shear pin is included with the motor. However, if you frequently navigate in shallow waters, it may be wise to purchase additional pins for emergencies.

Please note that the shear pin cannot protect against all impacts. It primarily safeguards the propeller during spinning. A direct frontal hit can still result in damage to the propeller, even with the shear pin in place.
